LOCATION: Salado (North)
SCALE: G
The Rio Grande Salado Railroad is a 7 year old G scale outdoor railroad featuring both diesel and steam locomotives. It has 300 ft of track in a large oval, 12 turnouts, and a wye in the middle to change a train's direction.

The trains have full sound and run on battery with AirWire controller. There are only a few structures on the railroad thus far, but the most interesting one is Chuck's 1:1 scale depot. Completed this spring, the railroad depot represents one that might have existed in the 1940's. More than just a building, the depot is Chuck's mini-railroad museum, housing two generations of Colorado railroad memorabilia collected by Chuck and his father.

In addition to the G-scale trains, there will also be HO-scale trains on display. But the train the kid's will enjoy the most is Chuck's Kiddie Train that he built himself from an old riding lawn mower and custom cars. So if you enjoy the fun of outdoor railroading and railroad memorabilia, be sure to visit the Rio Grande Salado Railroad.
