Riley Triggs'
Port of New York Railroad

LOCATION: Central Austin
SCALE: HO
SIZE: 24' x 18'
OPERATING SESSIONS: Occasional, 1-6 operators
The Port of New York / Hoboken Shore operates, as it's name suggests, on the New Jersey shore under the auspices of the Port of New York. The short line has a yard and interchanges with the Erie. The railroad switches several industries, piers and a car float. (The New York side of the river is even partially modeled, meaning that operators have to wade in the Hudson to run the trains.) The actual railroad was only 1.68 miles long - which means it doesn't have to be compressed as much as usual for a model railroad - but contained over 9 miles of track!

Riley uses DCC -- but there is no power at all to his track. Each locomotive has an AirWire receiver and a battery. The DCC decoder gets power and instructions from the AirWire reciver. There is no wiring on the layout at all. None.

The layout has recently had it's first couple operating sessions. Most of the track is complete but there is no scenery installed yet. The railroad on the second floor, accessed via stairs. The house is on a steep hill, as well.
