Ted Sr.’s Raised Railroad a unique garden railroad in several ways.
First, it actually winds through a beautiful garden around the
perimeter of his yard. However, the most striking feature is that the
railroad is elevated three feet above the ground on steel pipes! Built by
his son (Ted Jr.), raising the railroad saves the need
to bend over, preventing bad back issues.

Entry to the back yard is via a hinged bridge, or you may have to “duck under” if a train is running. Near the hinged bridge, on the side of the house out of view from the patio, there is a small yard for load-in and assembling the trains.
Other key features include a 16-ft., custom-built, aluminum bridge that crosses a waterfall and pond. The railroad features a nice roster of steam locomotives, like Shays and a K27, and is battery-powered with AirWire controllers.
