John and Pat Hanne's
Santa Fe Memories

This railroad was created to represent the fond memories John and Pat had traveling on the Santa Fe Super Chief, the Santa Fe San Francisco Chief and the Santa Fe Texas Chief. The layout doesn't represent any particular place. It recreates the era when passenger trains were numerous and freight trains had cabooses in the 50’s and 60’s.

The layout currently has several highly detailed city and urban areas with people, signs and vehicles. Some of the scenes are equipped with sound modules. The scenery is mountainous with many bridges and tunnels.

The layout uses Digitrax DCC and has several sound equipped locomotives.

The track is 50 to 60 inches off the floor. It can be viewed by handicapped individuals who can use the pull-up handles built into the layout (very stable). There is a 4 inch step from the driveway into the train room. The aisles are 3 foot minimum.
